Welcome to the Chakra Series! We will take a week and go through each chakra, and as it pertains to us parents. A chakra is an energy center of your body with specific themed energy. I will discuss how to work with these energy centers, and provide practical skills and practices to help cultivate these important centers. I will give a lot of information from the lens of a Chinese Medical Doctor (Acupuncturist/Herbalist), and use sound, breath, movement and voice to open up these energy vortexes.
Each class is offered multiple times a week to adjust for time zones and work schedules
In this class we will explore the root chakra. This is the energy of our foundation. Its strength determines the integrity of the other chakras. We need deep roots to grow the tall! The root chakra is about security, safety and support. We will use movement, breath and sound to explore this chakra.
This workshop will be focused on the sacral chakra. This energy center is focused on themes of creativity. It fosters energy flow of enjoyment, passion, emotional flow or lack there of. We will use movement, breath and sound to explore this chakra.
The solar plexus chakra,, is the third chakra, located in the upper abdomen (below the rib cage) and is associated with personal power, self-esteem, willpower, and confidence. Represented by the color yellow and the fire element, a balanced solar plexus brings confidence, purpose, and motivation, while imbalances lead to insecurity, low self-esteem, or control issues. We will use movement, breath and sound to explore this chakra.
The heart chakra, is the fourth energy center located in the center of the chest, acting as the bridge between lower physical and upper spiritual chakras. Associated with the color green and the element of air, it governs love, compassion, emotional balance, and relationships. A balanced heart chakra promotes deep inner peace and empathy, I often find my acupuncture clients have a lot of content to work with in this particular center. We have a way of allowing unprocessed emotions linger here.
The throat chakra, is the fifth energy center located at the base of the throat, serving as the body's communication hub and seat of personal truth. It governs self-expression, listening, and creativity, acting as a bridge between the heart and mind to communicate feelings and thoughts authentically. Questions come to mind regarding this chakra for us parents...how much do we share, discuss or open up? We will use movement, breath and sound to explore this chakra.
The third-eye chakra, is the sixth primary chakra located in the brain behind the eyebrow center, acting as the center of intuition, insight, and higher consciousness. Associated with the color indigo, it symbolizes the command center for wisdom, bridging the gap between dualities and connecting to the subconscious mind. This one allows us to see situations clearly, neutrally, objectively. I find this important as a parent of an LGBTQ youth, it helps me see the bigger picture and not get stuck.
The Crown Chakra is the seventh, highest energy center, located at the top of the head (or slightly above). It represents pure consciousness, spiritual connection, and unity, often symbolized by a thousand-petaled lotus and associated with violet or white light. Its purpose is to foster enlightenment and divine wisdom. I think as a parent in this climate, there is a lot of beautiful wisdom to glean from the journey! Mostly for me, it's to come back to love, always. We will use movement, breath a
